Visa Information

Please note – it is strongly recommended that Australian visa applications are lodged at least two months prior to departure from your point of origin.

Please note – ANSTO has no influence on the processing of applications.

Under Australia’s universal visa system, all visitors to Australia must have a valid visa or Electronic Travel Authority (ETA), to travel to and enter Australia, other than New Zealand passport holders, who will normally be granted a Special Category visa, on arrival, provided they meet health and character requirements. For more information please here for overview and follow further links to apply.

There are many visa options available to people wishing to visit Australia. The appropriate visa option will depend, amongst other things, on the person’s purpose for visiting Australia. To ensure you have the appropriate visa, please visit the following page on the Department of Home Affairs website Visa Finder for guidance on the visa options that may be most suitable for you.

For international participants, a Letter of Invitation may be required to obtain an Australian visa or ETA. Should you require a Letter of Invitation for your institution or otherwise, please contact the AMS-15 Conference Administration.

Once you have registered and paid the registration fees in full then your confirmation of registration or tax invoices for payment of registration fees is sufficient to lodge with your visa application.
